I've got things on my mind and they build up inside
and I can't slow the ride or get off.
I've had feelings for days and they won't go away
and the words I can say come out wrong.
You can believe, I've been down and losing sleep.

But I've got a dream to remember, and a song of December
and it sings soft and light, it makes everything right
I've got hope to remind me that real love will find me
if I don't push too hard, if I lead with my heart.

They were days not long ago when the words wouldn't flow
and I stayed stuck and low for so long
Then my eye saw a spark, A flash in the dark
and it was laid out to stark in my mind
You better believe, I was inspired, and so relieved

Then with a sound of sweet surrender, came the song of December
and it filled up the room, with euphonious tune.
And it rang full of meaning, and it kept me believing
that there's always a plan, in what we don't understand.

All through the long nights, it kept my head right, clear and calm.
Just like an old friend, talking me down and through the storm
Now you can hear, it’s resounding oh so clear

So let me sing it soft and tender, this little song of December
As we bring in the year, with our hopes and with our tears
Let it ring to remind us, of all the dark days behind us
As we look toward the sun, for the new light to come
